Plenty of runners, volunteers and happy families were at Lagoon Valley on Saturday, May 2, for VPEF's annual Loop the Lagoon race and fund raiser. Skies were a bit gray and drizzly, but that didn't keep everybody from having a good time. The event is sponsred by the Vacaville Public Education Foundation the non-profit organization raising money to benefit the teachers, students and programs of the Vacaville Unified School District. VPEF has raised more than $1 million over the years to bridge the gap in school budgests.
This year, as always, Loop the Lagoon organizers worked hard to make sure there were plenty of drinks, snacks and activities on hand. Runners were treated to a free massage, and there were games for the kids and a rock climbing wall for those with energy to spare after racing. Many local businesses showed their support by setting up booths or donating items for the day or for the silent auction. Emcee John Wilkerson did a fantastic job keeping the crowd involved as races progressed throughout the day. Race results will be posted soon. For more photos of smiling faces at the day's event see our page of photos. from the 2009 Loop the Lagoon. |
